Christian Kindinger studied Civil Engineering with focus on individual and public transport systems at the University of Wuppertal from 1997 to 2003. During his studies he worked as a student assistant at the Chair for Public Traffic and Transport Systems - Local Transport in Europe and at the Chair for Mathematics. In 2002 he was commissioned by the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) to develop a database system that detects disturbances in the bus traffic operated by the WSW. This database system is still in use today.

From 2005 to 2010 Christian Kindinger wrote his dissertation at the University of Wuppertal and developed a simulation model for complex operating procedures at bus stops. From 2012 to early 2014 he prepared for the exam to become operations manager. He was named deputy operations manager of the Wuppertal Schwebebahn in May 2014. Since April 2020 he has been operations manager.

Christian Kindinger is a member of the subcommittee traffic management of the Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen (VDV).
